President of the International Executive Board
Akina Mama wa Afrika is happy to welcome the New President of the International Executive Board, Ms. Thokozile Ruzvidzo. She comes from Zimbabwe although currently based in Addis Ababa since January 2013 where she is currently serving as the Director for the African Center for Gender & Development at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
Thokozile joins AMwA with a wealth of experience in gender, training, management and accumulative years of leadership in National Governments, non-governmental organizations and the United Nations. Her experience working with bilateral and multilateral agencies in support of work in the UNECA as well as participating in strategic think of bilateral such as SIDA, DANIDA and GTZ through the OECD/UN gender network partnership are among other strengths she brings on board.
She holds a Masters in Policy Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture Economics, WYE College, Imperial College London (external programme) and a B.Sc. Sociology, University of Zimbabwe. She is currently undertaking an MBA at the Open University of Zimbabwe.
Thoko has served on several boards and is passionate about young women's leadership development. AMwA will be richer from her experience!
