Medhin Fissha Mekonnen is the project lead for National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project at the GGGI (Global Green Growth Institute) Ethiopia. In this capacity, she is responsible for coordination and management of the implementation of NAP GCF Readiness project together with pertinent stakeholders involved in the implementation of NAP-Ethiopia.
Prior to joining the NAP GCF Readiness project of GGGI, she was a Gender and Safeguards Consultant to the GCF Readiness Project of the GGGI seconded to Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Facility in the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia. Further, she has worked with InsuResilience Global Partnership Secretariate as an advisor in disaster risk financing and insurance and UNDP Ethiopia program seconded to the CRGE Facility as an environment and social safeguards specialist. She has also worked with various organizations with a focus on resilience building, climate finance, disaster risk management, environment and social safeguards, gender and social inclusion and has sound technical expertise in program design, implementation and management, monitoring and evaluation, designing and managing action research and leading institutional capacity building interventions.
Ms.Mekonnen holds a Master of Science degree in Resource and Environmental Economics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
