On Gender Day at the 2nd Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, African women and girls came together with one clear purpose—to reaffirm our leadership in shaping the future of climate action. We gathered not as tokens, victims, or afterthoughts, but as leaders, solution-creators, and custodians of this continent.
Our message to African governments is firm: center women’s leadership at the heart of climate action. Champion a strong Gender Action Plan at COP30, ensure climate finance comes as grants and not loans, and reject false solutions that exploit our land and people.
To the Global North and the polluters driving this crisis, our call is equally resolute: cut emissions now, pay your fair share, and step back from the colonial dominance that continues to shape global climate politics.
This is our collective and unwavering commitment—to safeguard Africa, our communities, and our planet.
