Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is seeking African individuals to serve on her Board of Directors to guide
its mission and development, effective April 2023. The Board of directors is expected to serve a term of
3 years, legally and ethically upholding the standards of conduct set for them by the organization and
the applicable laws.

AMwA is a Feminist Pan-African Development Organization that was founded in the UK in 1985 and
relocated to Uganda in 1997. It was founded to create space for African Women to organize
autonomously, identify issues of concern to them and speak for themselves. To date, through her
flagship Programme; the African Women’s Leadership Institute (AWLI), AMwA has empowered over
8000 women with feminist and transformational leadership skills that have led to the advancement of
the feminist agenda on the continent and beyond.

The vision of Akina Mama wa Afrika is a dignified and equitable feminist society for African women, and
girls in all their diversities AND the mission is to build feminist leadership and collective power to
deconstruct intersectional systems of oppression to advance gender and social justice.
