CALL FOR LETTER SUBMISSIONS: Tell the IMF and World Bank How Their Policies & Advice have Affected Your Life

Hello comrade,

As we approach yet another closed-off IMF and World Bank Annual meeting, it becomes a reminder that these institutions are and have been in charge of our economic policies. However, they have used that power not to better our lives but to make our lives their budget item.

But behind every budget item is a person.

  • A public nurse whose wages have been frozen.
A teacher working with too few resources.

  • A student without a book to write in

  • A young person struggling to find decent work.

  • A woman spending hours every day filling the gaps left by failing public services.

  • A farmer facing rising costs and shrinking support.

  • A family forced to choose between food, healthcare, transport or education.

As they are preparing to meet in Bangkok from 12-18 October 2026, we would want to hear from you. Please write us a letter about how IMF and World Bank policies and economic advice have affected your lives, families, work, communities, and country.

Show what the budget items don’t! Your letter can be short or long. It can be angry, funny, personal, poetic, satirical, or direct.
