Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA), a 40-year Pan-African feminist organisation, is looking to hire an experienced and visionary Executive Director to lead their organisation into its next transformative phase.
This role sits at the intersection of feminist movement leadership, organisational stewardship and institutional influence. As Executive Director, you will provide overall leadership to AMwA, guiding strategy, organisational effectiveness and long-term sustainability, ensuring the organisation remains a trusted and influential voice across Africa.
Who Are We Looking For?
Qualifications
Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent, in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Leadership, Public Policy or related field
Core Skills and Experience
7–10 years in senior leadership, with 5+ years at an executive leadership level within feminist, women’s rights spaces
Hands-on fundraising experience with a strong track record in securing grants and cultivating donor partnerships.
Experience leading complex organisations, networks, or multi-stakeholder initiatives
Experience leading organisational transition, growth, or change
Strong political and contextual literacy across the African continent
Experience engaging regional and global institutions and movement actors
Fluency in English required. French or another AU language is a distinct advantage
